The Oatley family’s pursuit of quality wine has led them to the great viticultural regions of Australia. With a winery base in Mudgee, New South Wales, A.G. Oatley produces benchmark wines, with a particular focus on Western Australia’s Margaret River and McLaren Vale in South Australia. These esteemed regions offer a unique combination of earth and climate, allowing vines to flourish and produce fruit with great balance. Hand harvesting, fruit sorting and intuitive winemaking deliver wines with clarity, purity, great texture and flavour expression.
After producing wine for more than half a century, the Oatley family understands that site selection is critical – that ‘sense of place’ where you choose to grow your grapes is vital to both style and quality. The 1858 label celebrates more than 150 years of Australian winemaking tradition. In 1858, Adam and Katherine Roth established a beautiful vineyard and winery in Mudgee, New South Wales, known as Rothview. Today, this unique piece of winemaking history forms part of the Oatley family’s winemaking home. The wines in this range are a refreshing take on our most modern styles.
